Q: Would like to use this for a decorative edge trim on an indoor/outdoor candle lamp. Could this be painted and waterproofed?

This is not an outdoor ribbon, it is woven so I am not sure how well it would stand up to painting. I think the chemicals in the waterproofing would damage the ribbon

Q: I want to weave this in an Afghan. Is it sturdy enough or do you think it would shred?

I don’t think this is a good fit for your project. It’s very thin snd easily bendable so if you weave or knit it into something, it will be hard to see snd somewhat nonexistent. I hope this makes sense.
