The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey

A very special and heartfelt story. The entire family enjoyed this, from the youngest child to the adults. This is a family favorite!

One of my favorite Christmas stories.

Good read aloud book and the art work is spectacular. A beautifully written story set within the season of the celebration of Emmanuel (God with us). The gentle and subtle transformation of the main character is a delight. As I read it aloud to my Littles, I told them what to pay attention to, so they wouldn't miss the cues & clues of the transformation. Just a wonderful lesson in showing others Gods love.

This is a lovely story.

A must read during the Christmas season. We love the story and the illustrations are delightful and thought provoking, adding much to the story experience. Highly recommend this book!

This book is very special. The story is touching and has a good message for all ages. The art is perfect for the story. Together, a great read fir all ages - individually or family time.

The first viewing was, huh, what's this, another heart warming and fuzzy Christmas story? Well, huh, I was wrong (not that makes a hoot of difference)! Each time I watched it I became more endeared! The short book story is great, but the DVD inactment is wonderfully done! Actors, actresses, especially Mr. Toomey, Thomas, and the other kids, are great. It is a story of great personal pain, both by the young boy Thomas who lost his father, and Jonathon Toomey who had lost both his wife and daughter. The Mom, widow McDowell, even has a mature determination to fullfill her boy's dream of having a Nativity Set for Christmas. Thomas's timing with his lines is excellent. Mr. Toomey 's lines are almost cult level: "Pish-posh."; "It will be ready when its ready."; "Christmas is pish-posh". the interplay between Mr. Toomey and Thomas as Thomas gingerly tells Mr. Toomey that his carvings are not right is magnetic and suspenseful. The settings chosen in the movie are beautiful. If you like the fake Hollywood warm-fuzzy but insincere and unbelievable trash often tossed at the American public, you might think this DVD is, well, pish-posh!

Absolutely gorgeous book from the words to the illustrations! This is a beautifully written story about the meaning of life and finding joy when life has been taken away from you. The story even brought me to tears. I collect Christmas books to read to my children and this will become an all time favorite of mine. You don’t have to have lost someone to feel the raw emotion of giving love and hope during a season where those emotions are so abundant. For me, the illustrations are just as important as the words. If the pictures don’t hold up to the story it loses its finesse. I am no artist either this is just a personal expectation of mine! The pictures are beyond gorgeous and truly filled with emotion . I highly suggest this book!

A simple book whose power to move corresponds to the depth of our experience. The illustrations really add something to the story and are good at holding younger listeners. Our son, who is not yet three, is enamored of the story, in part because of the illustrations. The physical book itself is large and unwieldy, but this is of course compensated by the corresponding size of text and illustration.

I bought it years ago for our children, now I'm buying it for our grandchildren. It a beautiful story for Christmastime.
